Evergreen Neighborhood Area in Everett

Although the neighborhood is mostly a concentration of residential housing, there is still some history if not ancient it is still history. The neighborhood runs from the west side of Evergreen Way to and including Phil Johnson Ball fields. Its northern and southern borders are Highway 520 (Boeing Hwy) to Madison St. As far as businesses, the Evergreen Way part of it used to be continuous business, with some of it now being replaced with what I call apartment cubs. Unlike Edgewater and View Ridge neighborhoods and their beautiful views, Evergreen neighborhood is more hard pressed for view with only the history of business on Evergreen mostly gone and newer residential structures in the remainder of it.

Most of the homes in the Evergreen area were built in the 1970s. However, there are many businesses on the west side of Evergreen Way of this area that are quite old, but not historical in nature. Most people think of Evergreen Way, but the Evergreen neighborhood is only a section of that road, and only the west side of the street. It name comes from being covered in Evergreen trees, less so now than years past, but it is still very, very green through the neighborhood. Many of the homes are on larger lots than what you would find downtown because of the way that it started out very rural.

The far west side of the neighborhood has parks and a ball field that very nicely kept. Further west but not far away is The Boeing Company. Although this area was known for lots of Evergreen trees, it is probably known more for air traffic, with large 777 jets flying overhead routinely. Much has changed in this area. But assured, Boeing is what drove the development of this neighborhood, to house Boeing workers. Boeing caused the growth to this area, with most of the homes being built after Boeing built its new plant nearby.
