Historical N Broadway in Everett
Masonic Temple built in 1910 was originally in different place in Everett back in the 1800s. Currently, the building is vacant. I am not sure why, but the red X tells firemen that in the event of a fire they are not to enter the building. I know it designates structural hazards, but I do not know what they are. Although built around the same time, notice the difference in the architecture withe building on the Pacific Avenue page.
25th Street Market
There are a lot of older buildings on Broadway, smaller, not as old as the ones posted on my site. However, none of them are really historical in nature. I remember the 25th St Market on 25th and N Broadway, which was there until recently. The market opened in the 1920s and stayed open until after 2004 or so. They sold fruits and vegetables with a loyal customer base. There are still lots of old turn of the century residential buildings on Broadway, but more and more of them have been being tore down to make way for retail and services buildings locations. For example, the old and very haunted building that was once a mental hospital, later an old folks home. This huge spooky building had a history full of horrors that happened in its day. Built in 1920 around the same time as the market. I am surprised it was tore down to make way for modern mental health facility. That area of ground seems to always have that sort of thing tied to it, and forever probably will. It is like the spirits from past still have a hold on the ground beneath the new owners. The owners doing as the spirits wish. From insane hospital, to a home for the those with dimension mostly, to persons in need of mental health and other services.
